After the grand revival’s culmination of George Balanchine’s work, NYCB will welcome the holiday season with the ultimate Christmas epic, The Nutcracker. Balanchine’s The Nutcracker is a legend among all the Nutcracker showcases in North America. From November 24 to December 31, 2023, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker is a groundbreaking full production featuring the company’s 90 dancers. Aside from NYCB’s ultra-talented ballet performers, the showcase will also feature 62 musicians and 125 children (two alternating casts from the School of American Ballet) and utilize 40 stagehands. Everything is done to make this production as grand and magical as possible. Choreographed by Balanchine, the Nutcracker will feature the amazing music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tribute to Robbins features the incredible work of Jerome Robbins, one of the most influential and celebrated choreographers of the 20th century. This performance will combine three of his best works, Fancy Free, In the Night, and The Four Seasons. Audiences can look forward to music by Leonard Bernstein, Frederic Chopin, and Giuseppe Verdi.
